6th Grade Science

Sixth grade scientists started a brand new unit on Friday with some electric activities.  To begin our exploration of electricity and magnetism, students experimented with several sources of static electricity with the goal of making observations and asking questions.  They then drew a model of their ideas about the forces happening between charged objects.  The students' questions will be used to determine the next direction of our investigation and information gathering.  The ultimate goal will be completed models the students create that explain some of the invisible forces of our world.

The experiments were a hair-raising experience for many students, but their adventurous spirits prevailed.  I am looking forward to discussing their impressive collection of questions next week as we plan our next steps.
