As we welcomed the first official Monday of the school year, Rachel Stanton and I had the opportunity to meet with the seventh graders for their first health class of the trimester. Creating a learning environment where students feel safe to share their ideas, thoughts, and opinions is of the utmost importance to us. We engaged the students in an activity that had them brainstorm what THEY feel is important in creating a learning space that allows them to feel comfortable and confident, accepted, and where they can be themselves.
We were impressed by how thoughtful the seventh graders were in their responses and look forward to a wonderful atmosphere where all students feel welcome and accepted.
