Last week, Grade 5 took part in their very first health class. We began with a study of the Dimensions of Wellness. Wellness encompasses a holistic approach to taking care of oneself, with the goal of having a well-balanced lifestyle.
Students took part in an active discussion about the dimensions of wellness which include: the physical, emotional, social, environmental, occupational, financial, spiritual, and intellectual dimensions. We discussed how all of these dimensions are interconnected and how important it is to strive to keep ourselves balanced and to be our best selves.
Our class activity included listing healthy and unhealthy habits and drawing self portraits of ourselves demonstrating our own healthy habits within the 8 dimensions of wellness.
