First graders proudly wearing their 100th day crown.

On Wednesday, February 12th, the first grade celebrated the 100th day of school. This day always brings excitement and enthusiasm to the classroom. We started our 100th day in style by decorating our crowns which proclaimed "I am 100 days BRIGHTER!" We wore these proudly throughout the day!

We continued our celebration by challenging ourselves to think of 100 words on the 100th day! We took a few minutes at a time to focus on generating words and by 2:15 pm we had generated 100 words with a mix of English and Spanish.

First graders chose a 100th day themed writing prompt and worked on their writing and reasoning. Students had the choice between "If I had $100..." and "I wish I had 100..." They needed to state their thoughts and supply reasons.

We played a new math game called Race to 100. Students partnered up and raced to see who could roll 100 first by rolling 2 dice and coloring in the total on their 100's chart.

We had a lot of fun drawing ourselves at 100 years old. These are on display in the hall outside of our classroom, stop by and check them out!

We had a wonderful 100th day of school and we look forward to the remaining days of our school year!
