Researching Cities in Second Grade

In the second grade, we spent the last few weeks learning about different characteristics of cities, including types of housing, innovations, transportation, activities to do and diversity. We have used Google Earth to explore cities all over the world, noticing the languages spoken, famous monuments, architecture styles and more. We did a City Spotlight on several cities, large and small, in order to learn about the differences in transportation, housing and activities available in each of them.

Our next task was to choose a city we wanted to research further. We spent time writing down things we noticed and what we wondered about this city. This week, we have been working on researching our I Wonder questions and using this information to write a postcard to a friend or family member, pretending we have visited ourselves (even if it was just virtually).

We are enjoying learning new facts and sharing them with each other. Stay tuned for the revealing of our final project later this month!
