Each Tuesday and Friday, 24 middle schoolers have made a choice and a commitment to be part of Mrs. Damren's "Elite Fitness" elective. This is an 80 minute block, where students participate in activities that relate to several components of fitness, including cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility exercises.
Each student has a check sheet, where they mark their progress by how many sets and repetitions they do of each activity. Activities vary from week to week, so students learn different means of achieving and maintaining their own personal level of fitness.
I am very proud of the work ethic and the desire to improve the level of fitness that each student has shown. I am also very grateful to various community members who donated free weights to help keep our students strong and healthy.
