I grew up exploring the rivers, lakes and mountains of New Hampshire learning through discovery, experimentation and numerous successes and failures. I decided early on that I wanted to be a teacher and went on to earn my BA from the University of New Hampshire with a dual major in Earth Science Teaching and Geography. I later earned a master’s degree in Educating for Sustainability from Antioch New England. I have taught middle school and high school science in a seacoast areas schools, and I’ve spent the last two years offering student and teacher workshops through the Vermont Energy Education Program. This year marks my 15th year teaching and I’m thrilled for the opportunity to work with K-8 students in the design lab!
THE DESIGN LAB
Students in the design lab will be applying the design-thinking model to a variety of problems and challenges. This is a space where students can learn and grow through rapid prototyping, and learning from failure in a collaborative supportive environment. We have a growing supply of equipment that ranges from clay, straws and cardboard to a laser cutter, 3D printer and vacuum former. So far it’s been amazing to see what the students are creating! We welcome community engagement and expertise. Please be in touch if you would like to get involved!
