My academic career taught me that how you learn is as critical as what you learn. For 13 years I have been a school Media Specialist. As I shift into my 14th year in education at The Lyme School, I am changing professional gears to implement a Design Thinking program. My goal is to develop thoughtful, creative thinkers and problem solvers. Critical thinking and problem solving are at the foundation of my teaching. I encourage students to tackle problems creatively and think critically, which helps them to learn to think outside conventional boundaries and to seek deeper meaning behind a concept or finding. These skills lead to personal and intellectual fulfillment and can morph lackluster students into empowered learners.
I live in Orford, NH with my dog, TANK and cat, Igmu. I spend a great deal of my free time on a bike, skiing or traveling. I am at my happiest when playing outside.
“If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the answer, I would spend the first 55 minutes figuring out the proper questions to ask. For if I knew the proper questions, I could solve the problem in less than 5 minutes."
