Policy: EBH
Use Of School Property
The facilities of the Lyme Public Schools are the property
of the citizens of the Town of Lyme. As such, the School Board
encourages the use of these facilities by responsible local
community organizations. As custodian of the school properties,
the School Board must establish certain safeguards to insure
proper protection and reasonable maintenance of the school
physical plant when it is used for community activities. The
School Board must also reserve the right to establish a priority
of use of school facilities.
Rules governing the application for the use of the Lyme Public
Schools, and the fees for such use, are covered in accompanying
application.
This application must be submitted to the Principal and approved
prior to the use of the facility.
No school equipment may be used for other than school, school-related,
civic or educational purposes.
The Board shall permit school equipment to be loaned to staff
members when such use is related to their employment, and
to students when the equipment is to be used in connection
with their studies or extracurricular activities. A written
agreement should be used, which specifies the borrower's responsibility
to return the equipment in the condition in which it was received
and his/her financial responsibility for any loss or damage,
which will meet the requirements of all applicable insurance
