Lyme School PTO Minutes
January PTO Meeting
Wednesday January 18 ~ 7:00 pm
Loch Lyme Lodge
Present: Kate Cook, Amy Kelly, Rhonda Sheffield, Ellen Parish,
Bob Stein, Toni Gildone, Nan Gilch
general discussion: PTO would like to get teachers more involved
in our meetings & projects. We will begin to send meeting
minutes to teachers, plan to hold an afternoon meeting conducive
to teacher’s time to review our year with them, this spring
we’ll do a special addition of PTO newsletter or incorporate
it in school newsletter in early March, we also need to use website
to educate parents about PTO events & projects, we'll send
pto minutes to all parents
Artist in Residence Plans - ideas discussed at committee meeting:
building a yurt, trash can music, something connected to a holiday/celebration,
ecco art, new idea discussed tonight: classes paint large canvases
for the school or for auction, committee will choose artist
Barn Dance Plans - need to decide on caller &/or band, ask
Robin Taylor to guide us since he seems to have Cape Breton band
knowledge/connection, picnic tables & tables needed again,
food - discussion on whether to provide meal, different food options
were discussed, decision to provide food was confirmed, Toni will
speak to the Pippins about menu ideas, last year,class pies were
auctioned & some pies sold, pies will happen again, need a
cookie/brownie table for the kids, 50/50 door raffle was held
last year, pursue the idea of photograph “booth” so
people can have pictures of the evening with friends and family,
all proceeds last year benefitted class accounts, ask Jeff to
help promote in the newsletter
Annual Teacher Appreciation Lunch - need to find a coordinator
& food theme, food theme ideas discussed: Japanese, Italian,
Tapas, High Tea. Need ideas for teacher gift. Tentative date:
Thursday, May 17th 2:00, prep night would be May 16th
Family Night - Friday, January 20th in the school cafeteria: Bob
Stein will put up poster on school door to advertise, popcorn
popper & coffee pot will be used, he’ll get a key from
Jeff, parents are providing games
Spirit Wear - netted 470.00 ish, big seller items - sweatshirts
& pants, would like to look for another vendor, Amy will provide
the name of their vendor, we’ll have another Spirit Wear
sale in the spring before spring sports - advertise in March &
deadline prior to April vacation
Treasurer’s Report - current balance: $6,947.12
