Library Instruction revolves around three areas: Literature Appreciation (teaching students to love reading), Information Literacy (how to find, evaluate, & use information), & Media Literacy (the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms).
Library instruction for grades K-5 is given once a week for 45 minutes. The first 30 minutes is used for instruction in the Computer Lab. The final 15 minutes is used for a trip to the Library across the street to browse, check-out, & read materials.
Library instruction for grades 6-7 is available upon request by middle school teachers.
Library instruction for grade 8 is in the Media Literacy class which meets once a week for 45 min. The first part of the year we explored 'information literacy'. The second semester we will explore 'media literacy'.
