After learning of the fires destroying homes and wildlife in Australia, the 5th graders wanted to take action. As a class, they decided that they would like to have a bake sale during school hours, but also wanted to create a way for community members to donate, too.
They decided to place donation buckets at various locations in town and post on the listserv to invite the Lyme community to the bake sale. Last week at morning meeting, the 5th graders were very proud to announce that they raised $972.10 that they will be donating to the Australian Red Cross and the Australia Zoo. They are so thankful to live in such a kind and supportive community!
